What is NICU? NICU stands for neonatal intensive care unit. If your a nurse or you are going through nursing school, this is a speciality that nursing programs maybe talked about briefly. Remember that? Might of been between OB and Peds rotation? Probably not at all covered in the Nclex. It is so briefly lectured on and limited amount of students get to see in clinicals this nursing speciality is so different from any other specialities. Want to know more about the NICU, then check out this blog where I am going to share all there is about the NICU and nursing!
Why read or follow me? I am so passionate about this career that I want to share it with the world about it. I love everything about it from preemies, to rare congenital anomalies, to the simple newborn who is there for hyperbilirubinemia. I just have felt like there isn’t enough real resources about this specialty. Just in general the reality of this career of nursing. It is not a job where we rock babies and it’s sunshine and rainbows all the time. I’ll cover everything! From nursing school to landing jobs, to changing specialities, and of course all about the NICU because it is a whole different kind of world that hardly anybody knows about. My goal is to educate people about NICU nursing. I hope to help new grads get their first job in the NICU, to help adult experienced nurses transition into this field like I did but also to help current NICU nurses to improve their skills and knowledge.
